China 240-Hour Visa-Free Transit Expands to 57 Countries | India Not Included

China has expanded its 240-hour, or 10-day, visa-free transit program to 57 countries, with Kyrgyzstan and Vietnam added to the eligible list from August 20, 2026.

The transit exemption allows eligible nationals to use the visa-free transit arrangement when travelling through China, subject to the applicable program conditions. However, Indian passport holders are not included in the 57-country list.

For Indian travellers transiting through China, the 240-hour visa-free transit exemption therefore does not apply. They should continue to obtain the appropriate Chinese visa or travel authorization required for their specific journey before departure.
