Ontario OINP Update 2026 | Fully Remote Jobs No Longer Qualify for Employer-Supported Nominations
Ontario has clarified that fully remote job offers no longer qualify for employer-supported nominations under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The employer must have an eligible Ontario business location, with the required number of permanent, full-time employees working at or reporting to that location. The nominated position must also be urgently necessary to the business. Hybrid work is still allowed, but the foreign worker must regularly work from the eligible Ontario workplace when not working from home. A fully remote job offer on its own does not meet this requirement. Applicants and employers should verify the latest OINP requirements through official Ontario government guidance before proceeding.
