Thailand Tourism Fee 2026: Proposed 450 Baht Charge for Foreign Visitors Explained

Thailand is considering a proposed flat tourism fee of 450 baht, approximately $13.50, for foreign visitors entering the country by air, land, or sea. The proposal was reviewed by Thailand's National Tourism Policy Committee on August 14, 2026, but it is not yet in force.

The proposed 450-baht charge would replace an earlier two-tier plan that proposed a 300-baht fee for air arrivals and 150 baht for land and sea arrivals. Under the revised proposal, the same 450-baht fee would apply regardless of the mode of entry.

If the proposal is approved, air arrivals would be charged first, approximately 180 days after publication in Thailand's Royal Gazette, which could place the initial implementation around early 2027. Land and sea arrivals would follow approximately 360 days after publication.

The Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) would remain free under the proposal.

The proposed tourism fee is not yet an active charge. It still requires public consultation, Cabinet approval, and publication in the Royal Gazette. The proposed implementation countdown would begin only after the required publication, so travellers should check official Thai government guidance for the latest status before making travel plans.
