Poland Work Visa Rules 2026: New Restrictions for Colombian, Georgian and Venezuelan Nationals

Poland is tightening its visa-free work rules for nationals of Colombia, Georgia, and Venezuela in two phases during August 2026. From August 15, these nationals must obtain a visa before entering Poland for employment, meaning visa-free entry alone can no longer be used to take up work. People who entered Poland before August 15 are not affected by this first change.

A second restriction takes effect from August 22, 2026. From that date, Colombian, Georgian, and Venezuelan nationals will no longer be able to work in Poland under a work permit while remaining in the country on visa-free status. A transition rule protects workers who had already started employment under a valid work permit while staying on visa-free status before August 22.

Students and graduates who have independent work rights are exempt from these restrictions.

The changes are important for workers, employers, and recruitment agencies planning employment in Poland. Anyone affected should check their individual immigration and work-status requirements with the relevant Polish authorities before travelling or starting employment.
